Kirkland Lake Lions in Local Service
The Kirkland Lake Lions helped out a local grocery store to clean up before their reopening. The Foodland had a roof fire earlier this year which caused major smoke and water damage. Before opening, the store needed to be cleaned top to bottom.
The Lions stepped up to help in the store cleaning so that it could be reopened on time. Cleaning shelves are Lions Jennifer Rodgers, Karen Suykens and Jeanne Cloutier. Lion Milne Renne and Lion Karen posed for a picture in front of the lions information table.
As a thank you for all the help, Foodland allowed the Lions to have a food drive to help the local foodbank. The Lions filled over 5 shopping carts to donate their local community.

Capreol Lions Club Partnership
The Capreol Lions club is partnering with the Capreol Nurse Practitioner LED Clinic (CNPLC) to offer “From Soup to Tomatoes”; an exercise program designed for people struggling with issues such as mobility, breathing, or standing, providing an alternative to those who would like to participate in some form of regular exercise.
The program is held at the Capreol Lions Den at 2 Stull Street in Capreol, an accessible building. The program is open to anyone who would like to participate free of charge in the Sudbury area. Mondays offer a basic class and Wednesdays offer a gentle class and chair yoga. These classes are being held from 1-2 pm from October 22nd to November 29th.
Great way to keep the Lions and their community moving.

Visiting Clubs Trio
Temagami Lions Club and the Hudson Lions Club pay the Charlton Englehart Lions a visit on the same meeting night. Northern clubs have significant distances to travel to visit other clubs. To make the distances more agreeable, some of these clubs have created “The Travelling Lion”. One club “kidnaps” a Lion and takes it back to their club. Each of the clubs has to visit the club holding the Lion and try to return it to their den.
Temagami Lions were in Charlton Englehart to free their Lion only to find out it was not there. The Hudson Lions were there to let Charlton Englehart Lions know that they were the ones holding the Lion. A visit and a great time was had by all – next stop, Hudson Lions club to retrieve their Lion.
Charlton Englehart Lions- Secretary, Lion Noreen Lenart, President, Lion Rhonda McCallum, and Lion Bill Balmateer, treasurer.
Lion Training Day
Please note, this event has been cancelled!
There is a training session being put on in Kirkland Lake on Oct 13th starting at 9am at the Super 8 Motel. This session will cover everything from lions, becoming a lion, being a new member and all officers of a club.
The GLT team is coming to be the instructors. There has not been a session in our area in a very long time so I believe that every Lion will find something useful. There is a cost of $20 for the meal with the proceeds going to the newly formed Kirkland Lake Branch Club for their Administration account.
Please Call me at 705-642-3193 or 705-568-7334 by Tuesday October 9th with a head count so that proper arrangements can be made.
Hopefully I will see you there. Lion Bob Beaven, Zone Chair1520 Central
