Salvation Army Benefits from Donations

Minnow Lake Lions donate $1000 to the Salvation Army Christmas fund.

There’ s been a lot of Christmas spirit in Sudbury area this year. Minnow Lake Lions donated to the Salvation Army Christmas fund to the tune of $1,000 as well as donating 64 hours of service to attend the kettles at various location leading up to Christmas.

Family Fun Day!

Minnow Lake Lions partnered with Our Children Our Future to host their annual Family Fun Day in August. The free event is held every year for the residents of Minnow Lake and area.  Kids and parents alike had a great time. A bouncy castle, face painting, lots of great eats and treats and loads of fun, Service Professionals from Greater Sudbury Police, Fire Service and Paramedic services were on site, interacting with the kids, showing them the more playful side of Emergency Services.  

Wade Hampton House

The Minnow Lake Lions Club donated $2000.00 to the Wade Hampton House operated by the March of Dimes in Sudbury.

Wade Hampton House is a community-based setting that offers 24-hour support to individuals who have experienced a moderate to severe brain injury. The staff members work together with residents to engage them in both their personal care and on-going rehabilitation goals. The services assist residents to regain skills and pursue areas of daily living that are meaningful to them while focusing on maximizing community integration and independence.

The March of Dimes is currently raising funds for an expansion of the house to accommodate more residents.

Bursary Donation

Rashmi Narendrula, this year’s recipient is a 2nd-year student and is pictured with Lions Shirley Ogilvy, Irene Poffley, Advancement Officer Julie Houle, Lions Gilles Lafrance, Anne Dechaine, Leanne Furchner, and Club President Blaine Lachance

Minnow Lake Lions donated $500.00 to Northern Ontario School of Medicine topping their bursary to $24,800.00. The bursary was initiated in 2010 taking advantage of matching contributions from the government. The payout each year is based on approximately 5% of the capital amount and allows a medical student to realize his/her dream to study and hopefully practice in Northern Ontario.

Nickel Blades Skating Club Thank Minnow Lake Lions

Nickel Blades Skating Club acknowledges years of support for their club from Minnow Lake Lions Club.   On hand for the presentation were 2018 Olympic Gold Medalists Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford.  Meagan Duhamel was born and raised in Sudbury and always supports her roots here in Northern Ontario.
