Charter Celebration for 65 Years!

2nd Vice District Governor Lion Anne Dechaine presented the Blind River Lions Club with a certificate commemorating their 65th Charter Anniversary.  Blind River Lions are a small, hardworking and very active club.  They have supported many causes in their community including a free seniors breakfast in the spring, bursaries for both the elementary and secondary schools, school breakfast clubs, eye screening clinics, Christmas food hampers, the CTV Lions Telethon and subsequent gift deliveries.  Recently, they assisted a new Lion, Marc Bois in the application process for a diabetic service dog.  Lion Marc will be paired with his dog in the near future as soon as the dog has finished service training.  Join us in sending congratulations on this milestone to the Blind River Lions.
Standing, left to right: Lions Aline Charron, Lou Moise, Muriel Dean, Joan Shanahan, PDG Kim Groen, 2nd Vice District Governor Anne Dechaine, Jodi White, Marc Bois, and Dan Williamson. Seated, Lions President Sierra MacDonald-Talbot and Communications Dana Shackelton.

Visiting Clubs Trio

Temagami Lions Club and the Hudson Lions Club pay the Charlton Englehart Lions a visit on the same meeting night.  Northern clubs have significant distances to travel to visit other clubs.  To make the distances more agreeable, some of these clubs have created “The Travelling Lion”.  One club  “kidnaps” a Lion and takes it back to their club.  Each of the clubs has to visit the club holding the Lion and try to return it to their den.

Temagami Lions were in Charlton Englehart to free their Lion only to find out it was not there.  The Hudson Lions were there to let Charlton Englehart Lions know that they were the ones holding the Lion.  A visit and a great time was had by all – next stop, Hudson Lions club to retrieve their Lion.
